Blurry Screenshots and Screen Recordings

For the life of me I can't seem to fix the blurriness in Storyline. I have read many discussions, tried changing the pixels, saving pics as PNG's, using Storyline to record screens vs Snag-it - but it still looks blurry. Is there some awesome technique out there that I'm missing?

  • Hi Erica,

I'm sorry to hear you're encountering blurry screenshots and screen recordings in Storyline! You may find this article helpful for high-resolution screen recordings:

  • Hello! I am having the same issue with blurry screen shots when I publish to Word, using Storyline 3.

Is the information linked above relevant for Storyline 3 or should I be looking elsewhere?

    Thanks!

      Hi Valerie,

I'm sorry you've also hit this snag with blurry screenshots! This version of the 'Best Practices' article is more suited for Storyline 3.

I'd like to ask a few questions to understand your experience better:

      1. Did you insert the screenshot to your Storyline 3 project without needing to resize it?
      2. What is the file type of the screenshot?
      3. What compression settings are you using?

We'd be happy to look at your file to find out how to resolve the blurriness. If you're comfortable sharing it, you can upload the Storyline project here or privately in a support case. We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Hello all! I had an issue with blurry videos and was able to find a fix with the resources provided above by Eric Santos. Our specialists were using the Screencast that is built into Storyline. This size recording was being scaled down and causing blurry videos because the resolution was higher in the recording than the slide size in the project allowed. Once I bumped the slide size up to 1920 x 1080, the videos are clear :-) Thank you all!
