Can I create closed captions on a project with only audio added, no video?
Hi all,
Just reading the release notes etc on the new features in the 29 August 2017 release, and noticed details about closed captions in Articulate Storyline 360.
I have a project with audio on each slide, with no video media. When i view Audio Tools Options, it advises there are no captions which is correct, but when i click the little "+" icon, it takes me straight to an explorer to find and upload captions.
2 questions:
1 - Can I create my own captions on a project with audio only, no video? If so, how?
2 - If i need to create closed caption files separately, are there any recommended third party web pages that offer this?

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 86, we’ve included important fixes and new features.
One of the new features we’ve included:
- Position captions at the top or bottom of the slide to ensure closed caption visibility and prevent the obstruction of critical course content.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Thanks for reaching out! That's correct, Storyline doesn't transcribe the audio and automatically create captions. It does create pre-sized caption boxes based on the audio waves where you can type or paste your text into!
One tip I've seen users in the community use is the Text-to-Speech option to generate captions automatically. This can be used as a preliminary set up to build a slide while a voiceover narrator provides the real audio.
Once the voiceovers come in, you can use the option to Replace Audio. That way, the captions are already set, and only minor adjustments are needed.

I use Ren's suggestion a lot, in most cases I use a robot guide track until final review and swapping out then just leaves a little adjusting of the captions.
Is there also a way to change where the close captions appear on the screen?

Thanks for sharing what you'd like to see with closed captions! There isn't currently a way to adjust where they appear, but we do have a feature request for that and other customizable options.

It would be good to have the ability to display the closed captions on different areas of the screen as the templates Im using at present have the navigation buttons along the bottom of the screen.
