Can I slow down the audio voice selected in Storyline 360?
I am using one of the audio voice pre-loaded in Storyline 360 and it seems they are all speaking very fast. Is there a way to slow their speech?
Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 83, we've included important fixes and new features!
One of the new features we've included:
- Unlock new possibilities for text-to-speech audio. Use speech synthesis markup language (SSML) to adjust the speaking rate, modify pronunciation, emphasize words, add pauses, and more.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

I appreciate you letting us know this feature is important to you, Janis. If we add this functionality in the future, we'll share the news with everyone here!

I would like to be added to this notification as well. As with everyone else, I feel slowing down the voice, even slightly, would be a tremendous help. Using punction is a work-around but it just isn't really feasible when you just generally need a slower speed.

Was there ever any updates to this from 3 years ago

Yes, please add this feature. The voice reads too fast and developers should be able to adjust the speed. Hopefully, with all the people requesting here, it will be added in the next update!

Although a number of people here have requested the ability to slow down the voice, please don't forget that some people would like to speed it up! I listen to audiobooks and podcasts, and most players have the ability to do 75%, 100%, 125% speed. It would be awesome to offer this to learners as well.
Thanks!
Yes! That is part of the feature request, Terry.
I'm a 1.5x-2x on audiobooks and podcasts myself :)

Another way of changing this... albeit a more involved one...would be to export the audio, open it in an audio editor, and use the modulation tools. We have some live audio talent that speaks very rapidly and often use Adobe Audition for this type of thing.

The only way I can find to do that is to add punctuation to the notes before the TTS conversion, but then I have to go back and clean up the notes so the text appears as it should. Seems like too much re-work. Captivate has its own box that allows you to edit the TTS without affecting the text in the notes panel. Having to listen in the audio editor for where to insert silence does not slow down the voice at all.

I actually want to speed up the narration a bit. I assume this is not a feature that will be in the near future.
Thanks for continuing to be a part of this discussion, everyone!
We're still tracking input for more editing capabilities within the text-to-speech feature, and I'll be sure it gets into the right hands.
If we make changes in this area, we promise to keep this conversation updated. 😊

Audio editing is better with this tool: Adobe Audition.

Another vote for being able to slow down the text to speech. Also, is there a good way to put in words that the computer mispronounces. Spelling phonetically, perhaps?
