Captions for Publishing a Course to a Video File
Thank you for the new option to publish storyline course directly to video. This is very helpful.
Is there a way to export one caption file for all slides in the Storyline file? I see an export option for individual slides, but not the entire project.
Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 73, we’ve included important fixes and new features!
One new feature we’ve included:
Boost video accessibility by including closed captions when publishing projects as MP4 video files.
To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

Does anybody know a workaround to embed captions in a video exported from Storyline?.. This is for a video that won't go online, so the captions need to be embedded. The storyline project had captions but were not there when exported as mp4. Any ideas how can I embed those captions into the mp4 video?

+1 for the feature request: exporting storyline as a video with captions
Also, video export seems to be extremely slow - Storyline just took approx 2 hours to export an approx 9 minute & 28MB video. Is there an issue with its rendering features, as usually such a video doesn't take hours to export/render?

Yeah, it's stunning Articulate didn't include this option. You spend hours syncing captions to the voiceover in Storyline, but it's all worthless if you export to video.

Exactly! I'm truly surprised.

The lack of captions for video output, ability to export the entire projects captions as a single file and the poor rendering quality of screen recordings have been known issues with Storyline for YEARS. Your otherwise amazing product becomes nearly unusable for many projects due to these ongoing and known shortcomings.
These three improvements alone would allow your company to render some of your competitors products useless and allow storyline to be THE goto tool for developers. It is discouraging to see the lack of focus on ADA compliance and captions with your product, and sad that something as mundane as even PowerPoint works better at these features.
The time saved using Storyline to develop quickly, soon fades when we have to redo our entire captions files or re-record screen recordings multiple times at many different screen resolutions and still get barely usable blurry screen recordings as a result.
Please consider these updates as necessary (as proven by the multiple posts on this forum) and not place them on a "nice to have in the future list".

Looking at their development plans, they sure are spending a lot of time on 360° images... How is that a higher priority than video captions??

Chiming in with a +1 for this request to include captions when publishing to video. We have many SMEs wishing to publish standalone videos for use on their website as informal learning objects/supplemental content, NOT as a SCORM-wrapped object for our LMS. The demand for this is only increasing, as more and more learning content is being re-evaluated and parsed into smaller chunks to view on-demand. It's really disappointing that this isn't on Articulate's development plan, especially since it's required for WCAG 2.1 Level A compliance.

I agree with this need. We should have an option to automatically add captions when exporting videos.

Any updates on this?
I don't have an update to share on this feature to add captions when publishing to video. We understand the need and are looking to see where this fits in with our current feature roadmap. I'll be sure to update you in this discussion when it is slated for an upcoming release.

Adding a request for closed captioning for MP4s and also exporting captions for all slides.
