Certificate in Storyline 360
Hi, I created a downloadable certificate in storyline for a Rise course I was creating. I wanted the learners to be able to enter their name and the date and then press a button that would then download that certificate for them from. I did managed to create this using the Java script trigger. However, it stopped working recently. I did managed to fix it with adding in some different triggers but now it's a bit slow and takes the downloadable pop up to appear.
I was wondering if there was another way that was easier to create something similar to this where learners can download a screenshot of their screen without using Java script.

Hello ElishaTootell,
It sounds like the Print Slide trigger in Storyline 360 could be a simpler option here and would let you avoid JavaScript. Learners can enter their name and date on the certificate, then select a button to open their browser’s print window, where they choose Save as PDF to keep a copy of their completed certificate.
It won’t automatically download the certificate as an image or screenshot, but if a PDF works for your needs, this could be a straightforward option with built-in functionality in Storyline 360.
You could set up your certificate as a Storyline slide, then:
- Add text-entry fields for the learner’s name and date, and store those entries in variables.
- Display those variables on the certificate.
- Add a button with a Print Slide trigger.
- Insert the Storyline project into your Rise course as a Storyline block.
Here's a quick visual of this in action!
There’s also a Storyline course certificate template in the E-Learning Heroes downloads that uses the Print Slide trigger, which might be a helpful starting point.
