Change size of marker icon

No, you cannot change the size of the markers in Storyline. That would be a great feature request that you can submit here. In the meantime, you'll have to work with the markers at their existing size or create your own custom markers and pop-up layers. Hope this answers your question!

Thanks Nicole I have submitted the request, in the meantime I will try and create custom icons and layers.

I agree with Nicole that I'd like to see more control over the built-in markers.

One thing you can do that might work is to increase the marker's outline to an outrageously high number. Here's an example of some markers with outlines of 22:

@Montse That's actually a neat trick. You need to make the border colour the same as the marker, so no nice white borders on dark backgrounds, but otherwise it works well. 

One downside...you can't see the marker animation.

Great trick with the borders and I hope it can be made possible to increase the size of the marker soon too. 

+1 for more controls on the marker icon

Another thing I have noticed is that as you reduce the storysize resolution the markers become bigger relative to other items on the slide (since they stay at a default 28 pixels) so if you need to make a marker interaction and aren't worried about other things use a low res storysize.
