Changing slide properties for multiple slides at the same time
Hi All,
Need an input. Have imported slides from PowerPoint and by default the slides advances automatically.
I would like to change the property value as "By User". Is there any easy method to apply this all the slides in a scene rather changing each slide properties individually.
Hey Ponnammal,
There certainly is! Simply click the first slide in the scene in Story View while holding down the "Shift" key, then click the last slide in the Scene.
This will highlight all of them, and you can then change that setting like this:
Hope that's helpful! βΊοΈ

How did you create this little demo video and insert it? @Ali Goulet

Hey Valerie,
Great question! We use an application to create a .gif file (like the one that Ali posted) and then insert that file as you would with a screenshot:
I hope this helps! π

Hi Ali - how can you do this now? It does not say Slide Properties anymore - I see Slide Layers.

Does this not work with question slides? I've highlighted multiple questions within my question bank and it allows me to paste a trigger or adjust the slide properties, but when I click off the highlight and go to one of those that I think I just updated, it's not actually updated. I'm having to adjust slide properties on each individual question and it's very time consuming.
I know, the short answer is to do it right the first time and you'll be fine. I've only been using Storyline about a year, and I've come a long way from when I started. I'm going back into many courses and "beefing" them up, but it is painstaking when you have to make 2-3 of the same changes to each individual question and you have 40+ training courses with 10-30 questions in each course.
Hi James,
I can see how that adds a lot of extra work, so I tested this out to be sure. Within a Question bank view, you can't select multiple slides to change the slide properties. One option would be to move the questions out of the bank and make the changes there, highlighting them all in story view - and then re-add them to your question bank.

Thank you Ashley!
I came looking for a solution to this exact problem and your suggestion worked like a charm! I was not looking forward to changing 300 slides one at a time. This was a 30-second fix!

Hi Becky
which version of SL are you using - are you doing the change from within Storyview or Edit view?

I just figured out that I need to be in Story view. Thank you.

This used to work, now it does not. When I try to select the slide advances "automatically" or "By user" it will not let me select it from the drop down. I can only select each slide individually. Sometime it works, but usually doesn't. In the past I was able to select all the slides and then select "By user" and it would apply to all slides. Now it either makes me do each slide individually and sometime it won't let me change the selection and all. Frozen. Sometimes it pauses and then releases and let's me make a selection, now it won' let me change the slide advance at all. The drop down menu does not open. I would like to be able to change all at once as well like I could before. Is there a way to do that? Is this a bug? I also only let's me change each slide individually in the Full slide view. I cn not do it in storyview.
