clicking onto other layers in slide

I created a slide with 7 groups of shapes/text/images.

The intention is for each of these "groups" to be clickable and reveal a definition.   So I created a Layer for each.  And when someone initially clicks on a group it shows the corresponding layer.  Additionally, I added text to speech for each definition.

The problem is that nothing happens when the user clicks on another group to trigger the another layer.  I have to click Pause and Play again to trigger layer.
