Conversational AI Avatar

Hi everyone,

I'm considering using the Conversational AI Avatar feature in my Storyline lessons and had a question about long-term access.

If I create AI avatar videos and add them to my courses, what happens after my AI credits are used up? Will the videos that have already been created and published in my lessons continue to work normally?

Also, is there any chance those videos could disappear or stop working in the future, such as after a Storyline update or changes to the AI Avatar feature?

I'd appreciate any insights from anyone who has experience with this feature. Thanks!

  • Hello AngelinSavio-44! Great questions, especially when you're thinking about using AI Avatars in courses you'll need to maintain over time.

Credits are used when you create or regenerate an AI Avatar video. Duplicating an avatar video or making edits that don't require regeneration won't use additional credits. So, running out of credits affects your ability to generate additional video—it isn't described as a charge for each time an existing video plays.

For the longer-term piece, AI Avatars is currently a Labs feature and is still in active development. That means functionality may evolve, and certain features could be modified or removed as development continues. Because of that, I wouldn't want to promise that the experience will remain unchanged indefinitely.

For courses you need to maintain over the long term, you can also download your generated avatar videos and keep a local copy as a backup.

I hope that helps clarify how credits work and what to keep in mind while the feature is in Labs!
