Cue Points Not Working Correctly in Video

Hi, I loaded a video into Storyline 360 and created some layers for review activities for certain points in the video. I have it set so the video stops and a review activity shows when the timeline...

Hello Tammy,

I don’t have any suggestions unfortunately, but I’m experiencing the same issue. The first layer cue point works fine — I’ve added a video and set questions to pop up on different layers at certain cue points. However, from the second layer onwards, it’s not working as expected. It keeps taking me back to the first layer instead of the base slide where the cue point triggers are.

It’s quite frustrating, especially because I was really excited to learn about this cool feature!

If you find any solution, please let me know.

    Sorry to hear the Cue Points from your Storyline project are not playing back as expected!

    We're currently tracking a bug in Storyline, affecting the behavior between Cue Points and Slide Layers. When a Trigger is set to show a Layer at a specific Cue Point, the Layer may appear even if the Timeline skips past that Cue Point, to a later one.

    If you're comfortable sharing the affected .story file, we're happy to check and confirm if you're encountering the same issue. Feel free to upload your project file here in the discussion, or privately through a support case.

      Hi Steven,

      Thank you for getting back to me. You’ve described the issue very well in the second paragraph of your response — I’m experiencing the exact same problem.

      I really love the cue point feature; it’s a great tool for creating interactive videos. However, it doesn’t seem to work well when used as a quiz within a layer at the moment. I’ll look forward to using it in future projects once it’s resolved.

        You're welcome. Thanks for following up and confirming!

        I went ahead and included your voice in the bug report that's being tracked. This Storyline bug causes:

        • When a Trigger is set to show a Layer at a specific Cue Point, the Layer may appear even if the Timeline skips past that Cue Point, to a later one.

         

        In the meantime, as a workaround we suggest using Variables and Conditional Interactivity for each 'Show Layer' Trigger.
