Custom button showing on layers

Hello,

I have a "Continue" button on the base layer with a trigger that opens Layer 1 when clicked. However, the issue I'm encountering is that the button is still appearing on Layer 1, even though it shouldn't be visible.

To troubleshoot, I created custom states, including a "Visited" state where I removed the button, but that hasn't resolved the issue.

The slide layer properties are set to hide objects on the base layer, so the button shouldn't be showing. I experienced this same issue a few weeks ago, and it seemed to resolve on its own. However, after updating Storyline yesterday, the problem has returned in this file.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've attached the file to demonstrate the issue.

Thank you,

Melanie

  • Hello mamrich

Thanks for reaching out! I can confirm that you have the Slide Layer Properties set up correctly for your slide! Since Storyline 360 includes five prebuilt states, inserting custom triggers isn't needed.

Here's what I did to resolve this on my end:

    1. I removed the original button and inserted a brand new one to ensure the built-in functionality was present.

    2. To have clarity with the other elements on the Timeline, I renamed the button Continue.

    3.  I modified the Hover and Visited States so the button matches your original button.

    4. I inserted a Show layer trigger so your learners can click Continue and advance to the first layer.

    • I've attached the .story file to my reply for your reference!

You mentioned you recently started experiencing this after installing Update 99. If you are still experiencing this issue in the updated .story file, I recommend a repair of Storyline 360. A repair can fix some erratic behavior across multiple Storyline files.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you so much LucianaPiazza It worked perfectly.
I will have to do a repair - even my different versions are no longer present when I use Review 360.
