Custom Course Labels

Hi,

My team created a set of custom course labels, but the option created is not showing up in the drop-down menu for other courses.

How can we make the custom label set available for our team?

Thanks.

      Thanks KarlMuller :)

I think we followed those instructions, but we are wondering why each member of the team can't see the same labels as the person who created the label set. Maybe to have access to the labels that an Owner created, that course needs to be owned by the same person?

  • I've reviewed everything I can find on Label Sets, and I understand that they are associated with a user account. We have courses that regularly transfer ownership on our team, so labels being associated with a user account and not a course is a huge stumbling block to our use of custom labels at all.

Having said that, we were playing with exporting a customized label set and then having other team members upload that label set to their accounts so that the same label sets are available. This doesn't fix the issue that the custom labels change when ownership changes, but it would allow us to quickly reset the labels when the course ownership changes.

Unfortunately, the uploaded label set reverts to the default and does not show the updated labels. I checked the .xlf file to see that the changes are there, and they are. They are just set back to default (English) when the .xlf file is imported to Rise. Am I a missing something?

      Hello KariMcCord-1f8f,

Thanks for sharing your experience, Kari!

You’re right that label sets in Rise are currently tied to individual user accounts, and importing them doesn’t preserve customizations as you described. I’ve added your feedback to the feature request for team-level or course-level label sharing so our product team can review it.

We’ll keep you posted if this capability is added in a future Rise update.
