Customising Content

Hello, I am an instructional design student and this is my first time building something using Articulate.

I am building a tourist information resource for beaches in Sligo, Ireland. I want to provide a pretest at the beginning of my resource so that the content is customised to the user's needs. I will outline the resource content below. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Slide one: cover page "Sligo Beaches"

Slide two: a checkbox where users can customise content.

The checkbox will contain criteria such as swimming, walking routes, food, surfing, toilets, pet friendly, I want to see all beaches available etc...

The user can click the criteria they require to choose the most suitable beach for them.

Slide three: the user will be taken to a slide containing beach suggestions that meet their criteria. This slide also contains more information on these suggested beaches, so that the user can determine if the suggestion is appropriate for them. Additionally, the slide will also contain an option button to view all beaches if they are not satisfied.

I hope this makes sense. Is this complicated to create? I don't know if I'm throwing myself in at the deep end...

Are there templates available for this sort of resource structure or articles that explain how to do it? Is there an "official name" for what I am trying to create that I am not aware of yet?

Thank you,

Sinéad

  • Hi Sinead,

Your strategy sounds good to me. What I see might be complicated to build is your slide 2. There will be many possible combinations in it and you need to have a clear map to match every single combination.  So my suggestion is to create this map first and if you can draw it, it should be able to be built in SL. Though that might be another challenge to set conditional triggers to the referred slides.
