Customize default format of Hint Caption

When I do recording, I want to change the default background, border and text (format) of Hint Caption. How do I do this? Without having to edit one by one afterward?

I saw that blog but how to make square corner (remove rounded radius) and remove border line? The Theme only has color option.

Nobody ever answered you, so I guess it is impossible to also create default width, color, etc for borders in recording captions. Hellooooo formatting painter!

The article talks about colors and fonts, but I still can't find a way to change the default text itself.  In other words, whenever we record a simulation, we want it to invoke our own versions of the text boxes themselves.

Those default objects (Hint, Try Again) must be stored somewhere, so I have a hard time believing it's impossible to swap them out.  Has anyone else done this?  I'm fine with editing XML if I knew where to look.

  • Hi Max,

Modifying the default caption labels for screen recordings isn't currently supported. Caption labels refer to the action words associated with events in your screen recordings, such as "Click and drag..."

Here are two options for editing caption labels, and please note the second option for the XML file is not supported.

  • On a related not with caption fonts, is it possible to make universal font formatting for all captions? I'd like to remove the shadow effect from the text.

  • Hi Kirk!

We don't currently offer the functionality to remove the shadow effect with captions. Closed captions in Storyline 360 can have bold, italic, and underline formatting. I'll share this request with my team!
