Difficulty finding a layer....
I'm editing a slide in storyline that I did not create but I can't find one of layers. It's not on slide layers, nor on states. On the slide it appears behind other information, and it's almost like you can see one on top of the other. How do I edit the one underneath? Any tips appreciated.

It could be a Master Slide and/or a layer on a Master Slide.
You can access them via the top Menu Bar under Slide Master.
If there are a ton of masters take a look at this video linked below, it explains how to find out if a master is being used and which master it is. There are other ways to do this, but I don't have access to SL at the moment so I can't offer a step by step.

lisak1020: As Ange said, it sounds like the mystery layer is on a Slide Master.
Access Masters from the View tab.
When you view the Slide Master, that opens with the currently used layout selected and ready for editing.
If the mystery content isn't on the base or another layer of that layout, look at the Slide Master.
