Disabled Next Button Shows on Final Layer, Not on Base

I have searched the other discussions, but don't see a similar issue. I have a trigger that hides the next button when the slide timeline starts. It's to ensure people view all four layers before moving on. The trigger to return the next button to a normal state is based on four items being "viewed". The next button does return to normal on the final layer, but if the learner goes back to the base layer - there goes the next button back to hidden! I'm sure I'm just missing one little trick, but I can't see to figure it out! I did read about variables (which I'm not as familiar, admittedly), however, I had no luck going that route either. Any words of wisdom welcome! Thanks so much.

  • Is this a story/slide that you can share?  It is hard to tell what might be going on without seeing how you have constructed the interaction.

  • A trigger that disables the Next button when the timeline starts will run every time the user visits the slide — unless it's controlled with a condition.

    • A typical condition would be that a T/F variable = False. A separate trigger would change that variable to True when the interaction is done (for example, when all layers are viewed).

This post has a file that demonstrates that and explains various ways to control the Next button: TIP: Controlling the NEXT Button 101 - Articulate Storyline Discussions - E-Learning Heroes

And that was the ticket, Judy! Thanks so much. Makes total sense - I just couldn't seem to wrap my head around it. Cheers and thanks!
