Do we really need to keep .ppta files? Studio user
Hi, all! I have been trying to figure out if I need to keep .ppta files as part of my source file archiving for Articulate Presenter-based SCORM courses. I haven't been able to figure out what they do. Could someone explain that for me? I googled it and have seen Articulate Presenter tutorial: What's the PPTA file all about? - YouTube.
The only information I can find says that I have to keep it and that it is really important, but doesn't explain more than that. I find that if I have the .pptx file and any additional files like (.quiz, .intr, etc.), I can republish the course with no problems. What am I missing?
The PPTA file allows your PPT to communicate with the assets created by Articulate. For example - if you remove the PPTA file, you will lose audio, etc. and possibly break the connection between the quizmaker and engage files.

The .ppta file is created by Articulate Presenter during publishing and is used to store metadata about the presentation, such as slide duration, animation, and slide properties. If you need to update or change your course in the future, having a .ppta file can make the process easier and more efficient. Without it, you may need to manually recreate some of the timing and animation effects.
