Drag and Drop but with a specific state being correct

Fairly new Storyline user. I have a free form drag and drop slide where I am having the learner rotate a cube in space (using states and a slider) and once the learner has identified the correct state, they drag and drop objects onto hot spots (all hot spots are correct.) It works fine with the exception of the drag and drop identifying the correct state in addition to the correct results for the drag and drop. I have tried triggers to no avail. Ex:

Show layer, correct, when the user clicks, submit, (if the state of (the object that changes state with the slider) = correct and the state of (drop object 1) = drop correct, and the state of (drop object 2) = drop correct, and the state of (drop object 3) = drop correct.

I have also tried the above replacing the (the object that changes state with the slider) state with the sider position of 4 (where the correct state lies.)

It is returning "try again" layer for everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi ELTE,

It would be much easier for the community to help if we could take a look at your project file. We can review the objects in the slide and your triggers, and make recommendations on design changes if we can take a look at your file. Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or privately by opening a support case? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Thank you, Joe, I don't think I can due to privacy policy.

Hi JoseTansengco it could be something very simple. Are we able to drag items to multiple drops?  If not, that may be the underlying issue. Alternatively, can we add hot spots to specific states of an object but not others?

    • Hi ELTE,

An object can only be dropped into one target. You can assign multiple targets to an interaction, but only one pair will make up the correct answer.

It's also not possible to add hot spots to specific states. Hot spots can only be placed on specific areas on the slide as a way to assign an interaction to a specific place. You can try creating a mockup of the interaction you're trying to build with the private information excluded and share the project file here so we can review your slide and share tips on achieving your design requirements!

JoseTansengco thank you so much! I would need for one of the above scenarios to be possible in Storyline for my slide to work. Thank you for explaining :) I will have to tackle this a different way. I truly appreciate your time!
