Drag and drop with duplicate drag items

Hi, not sure how to title this discussion. I've tried to look thru all the discussions but couldn't find anything.

My drag and drop slides prompts the learner to put steps in order of when to do them.

I have a drag a drop slide which has 4 drag objects and four drop targets. You'll notice that two of the drop objects are the same. See snap 1

The slides works mostly as it should. The problem is two of the drop objects are the same and can technically be able to be dropped in either drop target 1 or 4. So depending on how the learner drags them they are still getting the question wrong even though they are correct.

I hope this makes sense to someone as I can't figure out how to fix this. I have 13 slides with this type of interaction.

  • snap 2 is the correct answer layer that the learner will see if they get the question incorrect both times. Just wanted to show what the correct order is for my question.

  • Unfortunately, scored drag-and-drops don't allow more than 1 target to be correct for a given object.

One workaround is to make the two identical steps slightly different. For example, they could be labeled "1st time" and "2nd time."

The other workaround is more complicated: use the "dropped" answers to select the appropriate response for a hidden "pick one" question. Here's a quick look at those steps:

Put 2 buttons off the slide, and remove them from the focus order.

For scoring, have 1 button be the correct answer and the other the incorrect answer.

On the Submit button, add a trigger that changes the Correct button to Selected with conditions that match where the items should be dropped.

    • Include an "Else" statement that changes the Incorrect button to Selected.
    • Be sure this trigger comes before the "Submit Pick One" trigger.
