Drag-Items do not return to start point when dropped outside correct target
Hello everyone,
I'm having trouble with a drag-and-drop activity. Even though I've configured the settings correctly, items that are dropped in the wrong place don't return to the starting point when they're placed outside the correct target area. They just stay wherever you drop them.
Even slides that used to work are now malfunctioning.
Is this a bug, or are there other settings I'm not aware of?
I'd appreciate any advice!
Best regards,
Katrin
Thanks so much! I've explored a bit more with your project file and have come to the conclusion the problem is the draggable options. I'm unsure why, but the code for the draggable objects is very different in the inspector between the two slides.
On a hunch, I deleted one of the draggables from the first slide and made a new rectangle/option, hooked it up in the Form View, and can confirm that one returns to its origin after I release the mouse button. It seems the individual draggable objects are the culprits. I hope this works enough to keep you from creating a whole new project. Let me know if it works!

Are you able to share a project file?

Hi Andrew,
thanks for your response!
I uploaded the project here.https://360.articulate.com/review/content/091d651a-3637-4ec9-ba94-1828c0b32404/review
The second slide does exactly what I expect, the first does not.
Thanks for watching!

Apologies, I can see the difference in functionality from the Review link but am unable to troubleshoot the actual triggers and settings without the project's .story file.
Hello Katrin_M,
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this when working with a Drag and Drop Interaction in Storyline. I tested this on my end and am experiencing these settings as expected. Happy to learn more about your setup!
- Do you have any custom triggers that move or change the state/position of the drag items after they’re dropped?
- Does this behavior happen in Preview, published output, or both?
If you are still experiencing this when working on the latest version of Storyline 360 (Build 113), I recommend importing your slides into a brand new .story file as a troubleshooting step.
We'd be happy to take a closer look at a screen recording of this behavior and a copy of your .story file if this issue continues.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Luciana,
Thanks for your detailed answer!
You'll find the part of the project here:https://360.articulate.com/review/content/091d651a-3637-4ec9-ba94-1828c0b32404/review
Importing the slide to a new project (the one shown above) did not change the behaviour of the Drag and Drop action.
Thanks for your support in advance,
Katrin

I'm having the same issue with a drag and drop interaction. The item does not go back to starting point when dropped outside of the correct target, even though that's how I set it up in the "Drag & Drop Options"
Hello Xiaoshuang_W! Thanks for letting us know you’re running into this!
This may be related to a bug we’re tracking. Are you seeing the drag object stay out of place after it’s dropped in the wrong spot, especially when a “show layer” trigger is also involved? If so, I’ll add your name to the bug report so we can track the impact.

Hi Lauren, thank you for responding. Yes, the drag object stays out of place after it's dropped in the wrong spot. I've attached the slide file here. If you could help find a fix for it, that would be great!
Many thanks!

Just remove the "faulty/corrupt" shapes (most likely originating from the Content Library). Create new shapes and use Format Painter to copy the formatting from the original shapes to the newly created ones. Then update the Form with the new, correct answers using these shapes, and update the shapes in the “Show layer Correct” trigger as well. See the attached file.
