Essay Question

Hello! I am trying to build an essay question with a limited amount of characters, but the "Maximum number of characters" option doesn't seem to be working. I tested with a limit of 2, but it still lets me write infinite amount of characters...

  • I also need this functionality. Have you figured out a workaround yet? I've seen a few javascript hacks, but I need something I can hand off that is simple.

    Hi everyone!

I'm having the same issue. Is there a release date for this fix yet please?

If not, are there any good workarounds please?

    Thanks

    Mark

  • Hello Mark,

This is not on the upcoming roadmap, so I do not have any additional information to share. It is still open with our team, and this conversation is attached so that we can share updates with you here.

However, I've seen folx mention setting this up using JavaScript, and here's one of those conversations. I look forward to other suggestions from others as well.

Hi Leslie, thanks for your reply and the link. The JavaScript solution looks useful. Thanks :)

  • I am using Short answer and Essay question slide and not able to limit the characters. If I type in Short answer input field it allows more than 256 characters and same happens in Essay slide. I guess this bug has not been fixed yet.

  • Hi, everyone!

I have great news to share!

We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 53, we’ve included important fixes and new features.

One of the fixes we’ve included is:

Essay questions stopped enforcing the maximum number of characters specified by the author.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
