Example for building a "correct" spreadsheet cost model

I'm trying to develop a course around cost estimating for manufacturing. I want learners to be able to construct their own cost model based on a few inputs (like cost of the machine, material, processing rate). I'm thinking of allowing learners to build from scratch, or to have a working model to explore, or to have a guided drag and drop construction of the model. Has anyone done/seen something like this, and any advice?

  • Hi Mark,

Do you want the learners to be able to enter values into a "spreadsheet?" In other words construct a table using multiple text entry boxes?

    Thanks,

    Chris

  • Hi Chris

Maybe. I'm open to suggestions! I'm thinking the cost model has 2 main ingredients - the material cost and the process cost. The process cost is driven by the cost of the machine and the process rate. So maybe illustrating these components is the first step. Users could drag and drop as an interaction.
