Exporting into Canvas

Hi everyone,

Glad to be here and learning :) just finished my onboarding training in Rise, and now I want to export this course into Canvas. I've tried everything to see SCORM, but no luck (I have now emailed my professor from the course where we gained access to Canvas).

I did download/install the SCORM cloud app, but it's still not showing up.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Many thanks,

Chris

  • Hi Chris,

In Rise you can Publish your course by using the Publish button near the upper right.

Choose LMS for your publishing option and set the settings the way you want, including the SCORM settings in the pulldown menu.

Once you are finished publishing, you should have a zip file that you can upload to an LMS. That is your SCORM material.

  • Hi CFoster57!

Welcome to Articulate 360 and the E-Learning Heroes community!

Great to see Kendal has been helping you. Just to clarify, are you having trouble initially publishing a Rise 360 course to a SCORM Package?

Or is the course not playing back as expected in Canvas, and also when testing the package with SCORM Cloud? If the course fails to load in SCORM Cloud as well, please connect with our team through a support case.

They'd be happy to take a closer look at the course and test it on our end!

Thanks StevenBenassi and KendalRasnake-1 for your replies.

It's not so much how to export my course, I wish that was it. I'm learning the current website I have doesn't allow me to import any courses. I'm working on building my portfolio and want to house it on my website. I don't understand code (cPanel is way to confusing) and WordPress with some hosts doesn't have a simple plug in. So my research starts :) to find a good hosting company that can support what I need (currently with GoDaddy and their only option is cPanel). Thanks again,

  • Hi Chris,

In case you didn't know, you can just export your e-learning modules as static websites using the Web option in Publishing. If you just want to host the e-learning modules you create on your own website for a portfolio, you can actually host the e-learning modules as static websites on cloud storage, like Google cloud, and that will generate a public URL. Then you can just use some iframe embed code, like what you do with YouTube videos, put the embed code on your website, and substitute the YouTube URL with your Google Cloud public URL.

This allows people to see and interact with your e-learning module as a part of your website. You do not get the tracking capabilities of a SCORM package and Google Cloud doesn't function as a fully-functional LMS, but it allows you to show off your e-learning modules without having to pay for a fully-functional LMS. You can see this in action on my website, Memorable Learning.

Ok, it sounded simple, but not for someone who doesn't understand code -- I did look on your website KendalRasnake-1 , I'm wondering besides Google Cloud's instructions (which I have followed) and it's not as simple as I thought unfortunately. Are there other instructions to follow? Thanks again,
