thanks Sarah, I caught that after I hit "send" but have since corrected. Diving in has certainly helped me learn the software, I'm trying to use as many of the features as possible. I don't tend to use states too often, more often it's layers. When would you suggest particularly using states over layers?

Great question, Joe! For me, it really depends on what I'm trying to do. There isn’t necessarily a right way to go about it, but I know it helps to see how others are using these features to save time. Allison LaMotte wrote this helpful article about this very topic that I think is worth reading. It also includes a lot of helpful tips from the community on how they decide when to use one over the other. I hope this collection of ideas helps you decide the best route for your projects.
