Freeform drag n drop slide locking itself if incomplete when revisiting

The slide is a freeform drag n drop, set with "Return item to start point if dropped outside [a correct drop target]".

Thanks for including your file! That always helps to see exactly what the issue is.
It looks like the reasons your users get stuck is because they only have one attempt at the drag-and-drop quiz. When your user starts the quiz and returns to the main menu, that counts as an attempt.
You can change the number of attempts in the "Question Tools" tab. Here is what it looks like.
