Having issues pasuing the screen in a software sim using Storyline

I am having an issue building the software simulation in Storyline. For the Try Me style of sim, Storyline produces individual slides...which is great. The problem is that the actual software needs to run an actual test in one of the activities. Storyline does not capture the test well. 

As a workaround, I am considering capturing the screens as individual captures and placing hotspots to indicate the correct selection.....much like we did with Captivate years ago. The problem is that I cannot figure how to pause the screen to allow the learner to select the correct option on the screen.....Storyline just continues to the next slide without pausing. 

Help!

    Can you provide a bit more detail on what's happening when Storyline tries to capture the test? Are you willing to share your file to give us a better understanding of how your course is set up? You can upload it here or privately in a support case if you prefer, and we'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.
