Hidden button to appear on hover
I am showing a video on a slide where there are no forward and back buttons. If the learner hovers in the upper-right corner, I want a "back" button to appear to return to the main slide.

The trouble with the hidden state is that it isn't there, so there is nothing to hover over. Create it with a filled shape (rectangle, or circle, or whatever), then set it to 99% transparency. Your learners can't see it, but the mouse can. Then when you hover over it, it will change to its Hover state.
