Hiding scenes in the menu

I have a similar situation and need to hide several scenes in the menu (9 total) when a learner selects a specific role.  There were two courses, but the client wants them combined into one with branching for two different categories of employees.  I know they'll ask about hiding the sections of the menu for the "other" category of employee, but I have no idea if this is even possible now that it's two years after the above posts. 
I tried using Seb-Daubert's solution, but it didn't work for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
