How do I put a minus sign (of a number variable) just before the currency symbol?

Please help me with this (see the attached screenshot).

In this e-learning module, the spending of the user has gone negative.

Is there any solution or a workaround to put this minus symbol (part of a calculation/variable) just before the currency symbol?
