Hyperlink not opening in new window

I'm using 360. There are several files linked throughout the document (click to open) that are set to open in a new window. However, when you click on them - they open in the same window as the training - which closes the training module. I have checked each trigger and verified that "open in new window" is selected.

  • Hi, Kristina, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! ✨

Thank you for sharing the details and the screenshot of what you're experiencing! I opened a case with our support engineers on your behalf, so you should hear from our team via e-mail soon.

  • Hi Michael,

I did a quick test using a sample file, and I can confirm that a hyperlinked file with the settings below will open in a new window when the course is published and accessed in SCORM Cloud:

Here's a sample link so you can test the behavior on your end as well. Try testing your file in SCORM Cloud so we can isolate if the issue is specific to your LMS.

If you can replicate the behavior in another environment such as SCORM Cloud, please upload a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening. I've also attached a sample file so you can see how I setup the hyperlink on my end.

  • Thank you. That's strange, your sample is working fine and I made one for myself working fine too.

  • I know this thread is old, but I just installed v3 94.33511.0 and have this same issue of the webpage not opening in a new window (even with that option selected). In addition, if I link a PDF file to open when a button is clicked, it opens in the same window using Adobe's online application. The only way out is to close the window and restart the course. Clicking on the "Resume" button reopens the web page again, leaving the participant no choice but to go through the course again. I am testing the functionality on SCORM Cloud. I tried the .story file above, and it did not work either. Thanks for any assistance.
