Hyperlink only works with keyboard navigation and not mouse

I recently created a course and updated the hyperlink states. When I test and also publish the course the hyperlinks only respond to keyboard navigation (Tab>Enter) and not using my mouse to click and open. Hovering over a hyperlink with a mouse does change the cursor to the pointed finger, but I can't select it. The hyperlink trigger uses "user clicks" and there are no conditions. I use hyperlinks all the time, but not sure why this is happening on this course. Are there any settings that I could have accidently turned on that would limit my mouse use? I am using Storyline 360 (Version 3.85.31840.0). I appreciate any help.

  • Hi Kevin,

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 86, we’ve included important fixes and new features.

One of the new features we’ve included:

    • Fixed: Multiple hyperlinks didn't work when they were contained in a text box with a scroll bar.

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

When trying to import my entire project (not just my attached file) into a new project, the mouse actions on all hyperlinks did not work. Only while using keyboard navigation (Tab>Enter keys) was I able to select/open the links. However, once I rolled back the Software version from Version 3.85.31840.0 (Feb 20, 2024) to 3.84.31722.0 (Feb 6, 2024), my mouse functions on all hyperlinks worked again.

Is there still an issue with hyperlinks within the same text box object?

  • Hi Kevin,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. We are currently tracking a known issue in Storyline 360 Update 85 where Multiple Hyperlinks in a Single Text box with a Scrollbar Do Not Work as expected. The workaround is to temporarily downgrade to Update 84 which you've already identified.

I've added this thread to the bug report so we can notify you as soon as a fix is released, and our apologies for the inconvenience this bug may have caused.
