Importing Powerpoint Issues with Master slide font sizes

Hello,

We are doing a pretty massive conversion of PowerPoint to Articulate.  We have done a bunch of trial and error tests so that the PowerPoint files are setup in a way they will come over to Articulate Storyline with minimal corrections needed.  The one issue we can't seem to solve for is with the font sizes on the headers and footers of the Master Slides.  In every instance the font size is doubling (Ie. should be 21 but comes over as 42)

If anyone has any ideas how to solve for this it would be HUGELY appreciated!

Thanks,

JV

  • Hello, Everyone!  ✨

I'm happy to share that we have released a new update for Storyline 360 (3.81.31200.0).

In this update, we have implemented a fix for:

    • Storyline 360 didn't always preserve text formatting when using custom slide layouts or importing PowerPoint slide masters.

As a first stepI recommend updating Storyline 360 to the latest version. Here's how:

    Update Authoring Apps

If you have any questions, please let us know in this thread or privately in a support case.

    Have a great day!

  • Hello Joseph and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are running into with your PowerPoint import.

I'm not seeing the same behavior in a quick test.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your PowerPoint file (even if a single slide) to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

  • Thanks Leslie,

Just sent you the file.    Is there an overall "best practices" guide for PPT Creation for the most seamless way to import into articulate?  I know grouping of objects is a no no for sure.

    Thanks again!

    JV

  • Thanks, Joseph.

I was able to take a quick look at the file you shared and noticed that the slides looked good, but I did see a size shift on the master slides as you indicated.

I escalated your case to a support engineer to take a closer look and work 1:1 with you.

As for best practices, we have this documentation that may be helpful.

Is there a reason that you're creating this content in PowerPoint only to import it into Storyline?

  • Hi Leslie,

The content is already in PowerPoint and it is being updated.  Moreover, the PPT is being used as a leave-behind for users.

    Thanks,

    JV

  • Hello, JV! Thanks for continuing to reach out, and I'm sorry for the trouble.

After careful testing, I see our senior Support staff linked this behavior to an open issue we're investigating where font sizes and text boxes set up in a PowerPoint slide master get resized when imported into Storyline.

Appreciate you working closely with us, and we'll keep you posted as new information becomes available. Here's a glimpse into how we tackle bugs like this one!
