Incorrect file package - missing imsmanifest.xml or AICC structure

Hello

I have created a module in articulate but it will not load to Moodle. I am told by them that the problem is Incorrect file package - missing imsmanifest.xml or AICC structure. (Though when I try to upload it advises me the file is too big, despite being only 8000KB)

I have read advice on the imsmanifest and tried all sorts of tips to correct but to no avail (checking there is an imsmanifes file - there is, checking I have added keywords and description to reporting and tracking - I have) - any idea what I can do to get the course to upload?

It is still a work in progress but need to demo the web objects and video content to my manager, so need to put online as preview mode is not fully functional in these aspects in Articulate.

I have attached the zip file of the story  - if anyone can spot the issue/guide me as to what I need to do in Articulate to correct it, please do let me know!

Thanks in hope!...

Caty

  • Hi Ashley,

Have you asked your Oracle team to take a look at the existing zipped output that Storyline created and worked in SCORM Cloud? Perhaps they could point out using that exactly what is missing/wrong in the way your package is zipped.

If it's working a SumTotal and SCORM Cloud it's a great sign that it's matching the SCORM standards, so next I'd ask for more guidance from Oracle.

Have you ever seen or heard of getting a zipped manifest file?  This is what they sent me and asked me to provide.

  • Thanks for your follow-up, Ashley! Great question–I foraged around, and could not find any nested zip of the manifest.xml file scenarios.

Like my teammate, Ashley, I'm curious to know Oracle's rhyme and reason for this and if they had a chance to examine the SCORM Cloud results? Looking forward to hearing back!

  • Just learned: the LMS will not take any zip folders that contain file names with 'strange' characters, such as umlauts and accents.

  • Thanks for popping in to share your findings Hanneke. That could certainly be helpful to someone that runs across this conversation in the future.

I wanted to welcome you to E-Learning Heroes :)

  • Hello I am having similar issues. I am using Captivate 2019. I finished my course but when I publish it apparently packs it incorrectly and I am not able to upload it to moodle or to scorm cloud. moddle says "incorrect file package - missing imsmanifest.xml or aicc structure" and scorm cloud says "Course import failed: zip file contained no courses".

weirdly, when i have the course open on captivate and clique preview it on scorm cloud it works fine. it also works when i open the htlm file locally here in the browser.

I also tried to send the unpublished version of it to my colleague so he could publish it, but it does not open on his captivate.

could you please shed some light on the issue? i have been stuck at it for weeks.

  • Hi Sarah,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    • Could you please share if you are manually zipping the course or automatically zipping (using the zip button once you've published your course)?

Our Engineers have seen that automatically zipping creates a package that will return a message about a missing imsmanifest.xml or AICC structure.

    • What LMS are you currently using?
    • Do you get the same issue using a new project file and publishing it to your LMS?

Looking forward to hearing from you!
