Hello! I am working on an eLearning projext that requires a lot of GIF files from the client to be integrated into the learning. While searching the forums I found several posts where people got help in making GIF files work and a few saying that GIF files need to be converted to SWF files. Which is correct? Can I insert a GIF file into Storyline? If so How? If not - how can I convert the GIF to SWF? Thanks

Thanks Mike, I've follwoed your direcctions. They are animated GIFs but the animations don't run. It's just looking like a regular picture/jpg. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone. Here's how I got mine to work.... I created in photoshop and just up'ed the number of loops. Then Export to Save for Web. I hope it works for you.

David, Same process as inserting a picture. Click the Insert Tab. Select Picture. Navigate to your .gif. You should also see it labeled as an acceptable picture option if you click the dropdown menu.

Hi all -I was having issues with the gif not playing, but I tried adding the .gif extension to the end of my filename and dragged and dropped it onto the project instead of using one of the "insert" options. That fixed the issue for me and it played and looped automatically. Happy gifing!Blake

Hi Diane,

GIF files are classified as image files and not video files. Try adding your GIF files as an image in Storyline 360 and let me know if this works for you!

Hi there - I find Storyline crashes every time I try to insert a gif file as a picture. I can't even preview. The gif is created in Vyond - any ideas?

  Testing it out on my end, I was able to insert a gif file successfully and preview/publish my course without issues. Everything was working as intended!
  
  I just had some follow-up questions to help me get a better idea of your setup:
  
  Are you working locally? We recommend you Create, Edit, and Publish Courses on Your Local Hard Drive while authoring in order to avoid erratic behavior.
  
  Are these issues specific to one Storyline 360 course/gif file or across all of the courses you are authoring?
  
  If you'd be willing to share a copy of the affected .story and gif files here in the discussion or privately through a support case, I'd be happy to test them both on my end to see if I can reproduce the same behavior.

I am trying to insert the attached animated gif file into my Storyline 360 project. When I insert it as an image it inserts as a static image, not an animated gif. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hi Kyle,

I just tested this: imported the Giphy with "Picture from File" option, then previewed. It works perfectly.
