Issue with same Trigger being copied to other objects
I am creating a trigger on an object to jump to a specific page. I have 4 objects and I want to create a trigger for each that specifies which page to jump to. The problem is that when I set up the first one, it copies the same trigger onto all other objects. I copied the format of the boxes (color, state) - i can't imagine that this is the problem. When you copy the format, it shouldn't copy the trigger..right? Please help.

Hi Amanda,
Thanks for sharing that short video clip. It helped me understand what you may have been seeing.
I didn't see a trigger on each image, so even though you were clicking on different images, the trigger you were seeing was the same one and not duplicated.

Ok, thanks so very much. I have changed my file now to the hotspot method and deleted the triggers I had before so I can't check it but I definitely did create separate triggers for each item...maybe I was just working too late and couldn't see it all any more!
Thanks again - fantastic support from 360 :-)

Hello! It's now 2022 and only today, using SL for 5 years now, I suddenly have exactly the same issue as reported and shown by Rajesh. I did not copy any trigger, but created each box separately, then separately the triggers. The only thing I can think of that it happened after experimenting with multiple question banks in one file. Can that be a clue?
Who knows what happened and how this can be solved?
Thanks!
Jan

Update: Installing the latest update of SL3 and doing a virus scan does not solve the problem.
Pse help!

Another update: I have tried Wendy's copy method and that worked. Miraculously, a newly created file doing the same as I did the first time, now works as I expect.
Still a mystery, but the issue is gone ...

Same thing is happening to me (all these years later in 2022). I'll try what Jan tried. Fingers crossed.

This worked - thanks Wendy
Hi Rajesh
see updated file - I removed the first trigger and did it again, then copied pasted the triggers from one rectangle to another and changed the target slide.

The hotspot recommendation is not working nor is saving as a new file. The issue is the same trigger applies to every to every object, no matter what the settings are. I'm using the latest version of Storyline 3. Any thoughts on how to resolve?

Hi Sonja, would you mind sharing your SL project file here so that someone can take a look and provide you with a workaround?

Thanks for your quick reply. There are three slides. Please refer to the second slide, with the objects. On the slide, the second object called Research/Title Agents has the hotspot; all others are using the standard trigger with associating the object to its layer.

Hi Sonja, I reviewed the file that you attached and as you said, only the Research/Title Agents has the hotspot and for the remaining blocks doesn't have any triggers associated to them.
So, I created new hotspots and assigned the corresponding layer to each and it works fine.
Could you be more specific of the issue that you're replicating at your end?
Please review the attached updated SL file and let me know if you need any further assistance.

It works! Like you, I created the same hot spots and assigned their corresponding layers. However, when I played the slide, the last hotspot and its corresponding layer applied to all objects, overriding what I setup. Thanks so much for your help. Much appreciated!
