Keeping Our Storyline File Names Consistent in Review

Recently, Review began renaming our downloads to its own versioned titles, breaking our established naming system.

I’ve been working with the latest Storyline version and collaborating via Articulate Review by uploading files named with the current date (YYYY‑MM‑DD) and my initials— for example, “2025‑07‑25_JD.story.” My teammates would simply download that exact file, ensuring we all tracked progress by date and author. Suddenly, Review now delivers files named like “ModuleTitle_v3.story,” using its internal version counter instead of my original name. This shift has caused confusion, since our team doesn’t use Review’s numbering and can no longer tell at a glance which draft corresponds to which date. I’m reaching out to Articulate support to find out when this change was implemented and whether we can disable or adjust the automatic renaming so that our date‑and‑initials convention remains intact. By restoring consistent file names, we’ll keep our version tracking clear and prevent any mix‑ups moving forward.

Kind regards,

Felix

  • Hi FelixLudwig!

Happy to share some insight on this!

Review 360 has been delivering Cloud Backups, in the format of [title][version].story for quite a while, and no recent changes to the user interface were implemented. Currently, the naming conventions within the UI cannot be customized, but I understand having the ability would improve your authoring experience. I've passed this feedback along to our product team!

In the meantime, as a workaround, I suggest hiding specific versions of a Review 360 item. This will give you more control over which items your team members have access to. Here's how:

    1. Click an item on your dashboard to open it.
    2. Click the Version drop-down list at the top of the screen and hover over the version you want to hide. (The current version of an item can’t be hidden).
    3. Click the eye icon to hide that version.

Please let me know if you need anything else!
