Labeled Graphic Size and Quality
I'm using a screenshot of a menu as a labeled graphic. The image is 366x478. Even on a monitor set to display 1080p, it's a decent size, legible and would be fine in a web browser.
The problem I am having, however is that when i insert it as a labeled graphic and set the image width to "small" it blows the image up to about 760x980 and it looks awful. I've tried adjusting the compression on the image, changing the dpi and several other things but no matter what, Rise just butchers it and makes it not presentable.
Is there any way to control the size the image displays at other than "small," "medium," and "Full width" (Don't even get me started on what Full Width does to images....)
I get that Rise is mean to be responsive but it should not prioritize responsiveness over quality.

Hi Erin!
No updates on image sizing yet, but, could we please take a look at the image file you're having trouble with? You can submit a case here and attach the image file and the result you're seeing, along with browser details to show us what's happening so we can help!- ErinBuckley-a45Community Member
Thanks for your reply. I use many images in the Rise content that I create. In general, I really miss the ability to customize the size and placement as I can do with other applications. I am not looking for robust design capabilities. However, I do find that the inability to make basic changes has a limiting effect on the impact and effectiveness of my learning materials.
So, basically, the answer to your request is that all of my images are troublesome.

Hi Erin, I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble working with images in Rise. It sounds like you’re looking for more image editing capabilities. If it helps, you have the option to crop images in Rise. Here’s how.
If you’re looking for other features, please provide more details on the ability to customize the image size and placement capability you mentioned, so we can better understand what you need. Thanks!

Hi there - similar issue - I want to have a labeled graphic that's completely visible on an average laptop screen. I tried the "_NOPROCESS_" appending on the image file name and got excited that it uploaded exactly as I wanted in the labeled graphic edit screen. However, once I closed the edit screen, the main edit screen and the preview screen show the image even larger than the image file I'd uploaded without _NOPROCESS_. Any ideas?

Hi Kris, I am here to help. It looks like your Labelled Graphic block's image width is set to Full Width? If you open the edit panel, the image will shrink to accommodate the edit panel, but once you close the panel, the image will go back to Full Width.
Have you tried setting the Image Width to Medium or Small and see what works for you?

Hi everyone,
Is there any update on this? This is becoming very burdensome for me, and all the tricks posted here aren't quite working with a specific image I need to use. It's unfortunate to see so many people having issues for this long with no progress.

I couldn't agree more with Phoebe. This is an issue Articulate should have fixed right when it was identified. To have it still be an issue two years later is absurd. I'd love to see this fixed.

In fact, I just had a client ask this morning why we couldn't make the
images smaller -- her learners find it difficult when they can't see the
entire image onscreen at once, and I have no solution for her.*Kris Nagy*

Unfortunately this forum is FULL of threads like this, highlighting bugs or basic usability improvements. Most of them are over 2 years old with tons of participants and community support, but for whatever reason Articulate seems to have zero interest in resolving them. Instead we're directed to submit a feature request, which appears to just be a blackhole.
It's beyond ridiculous at this point. Wonder how many customers they need to lose before they'll actually decide to take some action.

This is still a problem years later...

Having the exact same problem. Came here looking for answers to a "bug" that's apparently three years old.

Has this SERIOUSLY not been fixed yet after ALMOST 3 YEARS?! Come ON! I am trying to create geometry courses for an online school, and my coworker insisted I use this platform to make it look "updated". I told her that Rise is NOT conducive to resizing pictures OR putting pictures as answers and said how much of an idiot I would be to use this platform instead of SoftChalk. Seems I was correct.

Hi Jessica,
There is a very simple solution that takes about a minute to implement.
Firstly, understand that Rise expects labeled graphic images to be in 16:9 format.
If your image is not in a 16:9 format, use an image editor to add to the left and the right sides to get close to a 16:9 ratio. The visual result will be an image that displays correctly.

I shrunk the image and put it within a frame..that seemed to work

Hi all, thanks for this and for those who posted solutions re aspect ratio (16:9) + image size "small" to fix the issue. I spent hours on this one before coming here and fixing the problem quickly.
I'm glad to hear the solutions/workarounds in this post helped you with your project, Joel!

Has this issue with the small labeled graphic images being scaled up been fixed? I'm encountering an issue with this and wonder if it's due to the bug.
- KarlMullerCommunity Member
Hi Chris,
Ensuring that your image has a 16:9 aspect ratio is the key.

Well I am going to join this discussion 4 YEARS LATER after dealing with this infuriating issue and wasting multiple hours to find a work around.
Articulate, you should not be ignoring an issue 4 years old! It took me hours of digging to find this thread and work around for something you still haven’t fixed in 4 years!
