Line spacing changes upon PowerPoint import

When I import a PowerPoint file into Articulate Storyline 360, the line spacing of the header text is changed. In PowerPoint it had line spacing of Multiple set at .85 (font is Noto Sans 28-pt). But after importing the slide deck into Storyline, the line spacing for the headers changes to At Least set at 44.8 (which is spread out more).

It seems to be related to the line spacing be set at less than 1 line. When I try line spacing above 1, it works correctly. But if I try it below 1, it changes it. It's not that Storyline can't do it below 1. I can change it manually to Multiple at .85 and it looks great. But I don't want to have to do that every time I import this slide deck template.

Any suggestions?

  • Hello Wendy,

Thanks so much for reaching out!

What you're experiencing is a known issue where line spacing settings are not imported correctly when importing PowerPoint files into Storyline. I've added your voice to this. We don't have any news at this time. We'll be sure to update this thread with any updates or news in the future!

The current workaround recommendation is to manually adjust the spacing once in Storyline. I'm curious to hear if others in the community have a workaround that they'd be able to share!

  • No solutions (sorry, Wendy!), but you can add my name to that list, too, Luciana.

Are there any quick ways to manually adjust the spacing (a la updating styles?), or is it an object-by-object job?

  • Hi Tara,

Thanks for reaching out. I've added your voice to this report!

Perhaps others in the community can speak to what has worked well for them as a workaround! I'll open this discussion to them.

    Have a wonderful afternoon!

I am experiencing the same issue when packaging and uploading courses for clients. Fortunately, the client was able to review their PPT deck (44 slides) and pinpoint where the line spacing issues occurred. In this case I was able to manually add additional spacing where needed (1-3 extra spaces in some instances), but these types of edits (any format edits) can become very time consuming and unsustainable depending on the number of slides that are included. Has Articulate developed a fix for this yet? Do they plan on fixing it? What's the eta of a fix?
