  • Welcome to the community, Vicky!

If you receive an "Unable to acquire LMS API" error when launching Articulate content in your LMS, this may be caused by the version of Java that you have installed.

Some LMS’s use a Java API object to load content. Since content created in Articulate does not require Java, please do the following:

    *  Contact your LMS provider and ensure that your installed version of Java is compatible with the version of the LMS you are using.
    *  Ensure that you have published your content properly as described in the following article:
    http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/publishing-a-project-for-lms.aspx

If this issue persists, make the following modification to your player template, and test your content again:

Go to Home > Player > Other, and deselect "Launch player in new window"

You may also want to try testing your course in SCORM Cloud to help us determine if the issue is Articulate-related or if it's on your LMS's side. If it appears in SCORM Cloud as well, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what might be going on. If you can't replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, it's probably an issue that you'd want to take to your LMS team. The articles here and here may also help clear up common LMS issues.

    Thanks!

I am getting this error when previewing from html5 file in a browser. I've not put it into an LMS yet. Any thoughts here?

Hi J L!  If you've published your content for LMS, you'll want to test it in an LMS environment to make sure that it functions as expected.

If you aren't ready to go live into your own LMS, you can always test it on SCORM Cloud!  It's an industry standard testing site where you can upload and launch your content.

  • In case others are faced with this issue, after extensive testing we were able to determine that there was one button in the course that was ultimately not assigned a destination and thus causing the learner's progress to stop, go to a black screen, and unable to re-enter the course from the LMS. Once we assigned the button the issue was resolved. It was not anything related to the suggestions above. Hope this helps someone!

I have run into this error as well. But when I do a preview of the entire course in Review it is fine.  Did you see this error in Review 360 fine and then it didn't work when you moved it to the LMS?

  • Hi Annie,

Thank you for sharing your solution with the community! I'm sure other users will find this helpful.

  • For me, the error was appearing once it was in the LMS. Did you check that all your buttons are assigned a destination? That was the issue for me.
