Modifying characters
Hi, there - I've used the method detailed in this thread for editing the colors of character clothes for many years.
- First insert the character you want to change on a Storyline slide.
- Then right click and "save as picture." Save it as an EMF file.
- Now, open powerpoint and insert the .emf file. Select it and ungroup it. When Ppt asks, YES you want to ungroup it.
- Now, select it again and ungroup it again.
- After the 2nd ungroup, look at your selection pane. There is one group with over a hundred shapes, and then two other images that are not grouped. Those two are little strips across the neck, one colored and one white. Get rid of them. They'll just cause you trouble.
- Now, ungroup a third time.
- Finally you get to do the painstaking work of clicking on the hundred little pieces and recoloring them.
It's now stopped working.
I tested this approach with an Illustrator image that I saved as an EMF file and everything worked flawlessly on the PPT side of things. This tells me something has changed on the Storyline side. Can anyone shed light on this? The process worked as recently as February 10 of 2021, but I don't know what build I was on at the time. It's possible I had an old build and hadn't updated in a while.
More info...
- I am on April 27, 2021 (Build 3.51.24979.0)
- A co-worker is on April 6, 2021 (Build 3.50.24832.0)
- Another co-worker is on November 17, 2020 (Build 3.46.23620.0)
This process doesn't work for any of us.
