New issue: Layers no longer "Hide Other Layers" upon re-visiting slide

I've already submitted a ticket on this one; I will post the solution when available.

I believe the latest release of Storyline has a bug: we use layers a lot in authoring, and all are set to "hide other layers". When the slide is first viewed, it displays correctly; however if the user then returns to the slide, the "hide other layers" checkbox is ignored, and layers overlay each other on the screen. This also applies to objects on the base layer that were manually select NOT to display when a layer is shown; it works the first time, but on subsequent visits the instruction is ignored. This problem occurs in both Chrome and Firefox.

All slides are set to "Reset to original state".

The reason I think this was introduced in the April update of Storyline is because if I go back to a version of the project that was output before April, this problem is not seen. Nor did we ever see this happening in the past.

I created a simple test file, attached, which demonstrates the problem. When the slide is first visited, all is well, if revisited, layers appear on top of each other.

The solution, for now, is to put triggers on every layer to hide every other layer, and not to use the manual method of de-checking items on the base layer that you don't wish to appear.

  • Chiming in to say that I have also experienced this issue on the latest version and have submitted a case with Support. I'm going to try JudyNollet's suggestion to roll back and publish on a version where we didn't see this behaviour and will report back!

  • I was having this exact issue and came across this post. I had version 3.114.36620.0. Updating to 3.114.36655.0 seems to have fixed the issue for me.

Judy, thanks for your response!  I guess I didn't use the right search terms when looking for others with this issue, I see them now.  I am on the April 9th release, but your solution of rolling back to an earlier release will work for me, thanks very much!

  • There have been multiple posts about issues with revisiting layers. Supposedly, the April update fixed them...

Since you are using the latest update, I suggest you contact support.

And, since the previous version worked for you, I suggest you revert to that version. You can access other versions via the Articulate 360 app.
