New to Storyline: Can You Customize Closed Captions?
I'm new to Articulate Storyline, (I've been using Captivate for more than 10 years, and I have a question about closed captions. Beyond changing the font and the font size, are there other ways that you can customize closed captions? Can you change the fill color or the font color of the closed caption? Or can you move the closed caption to another spot on the slide?
Hello Everyone!
I'm happy to share that we have released Storyline 360 version 86 (Build 3.86.32028.0).
Included in this release we have two new features:
- Position captions at the top or bottom of the slide to ensure closed caption visibility and prevent the obstruction of critical course content.
- Customize the foreground and background colors of closed captions to complement your course design and maintain contrast accessibility.
All you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let us know if you have any questions by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.
Have a great day!

I agree! This is definitely needed! Are there any updates from Articulate on customizations for closed captions?
Hi Chrissy,
We still do not have an ETA on when the customization options for Closed Caption will be available, but we'll definitely let everyone here know once this feature is released. You can check out which new features are being worked on for Storyline 360 here. And for your reference, here's our process for handling feature requests.

Hiya,
I'm also looking for options to customise the closed captioning - is this feature enabled yet?
Hi Anna, and thanks for reaching out!
To make closed captions easier to read, you have the option to increase the captions font size up to 200% in the modern player.
We're currently tracking two additional feature requests:
- Ability to Customize Closed Caption Colors
- Ability to Change Closed Caption Placement
We appreciate your feedback and encourage you to submit a feature request if there are other features you would like to see added. In the meantime, we'll be sure to keep this discussion up to date on our progress!

Thank you. Just did this today. I knew there had to be a way to do it, and I forgot about that feature in the player.
Glad we could help, Jodi! ✨
