Notes Panel and Dialog Layers

We use the Notes Panel for course transcripts.  

We're also experimenting with the Dialog layer function.

However, we don't like the look of the Dialog layer when it covers the Notes Panel.

Is there a way (presumably with JavaScript) to have Storyline close the Notes Panel when a layer is opened?
