Objects disappearing at end of timeline, even though go til end
Hi,
I keep getting this problem (I'm making my first storyline project). Everything will be working fine, and then I make edits to a part of slide and when I go to preview, the text, images, etc disappear from the slide right at the end. (I currently have a button set up to change from state of hidden to normal when timeline ends becuase I have audio). So, the Continue button shows, but things that used to also stay, now disappear.
When I go to the timeline, it looks like everything is all lined up at the end, so I dont know why the disappear -- I've had to just re-do entire slides - but maybe there is something going on that I'm not aware of. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

OK, another thing to check...make sure you do not have an Exit Animation applied to those that are disappearing.

That was helpful Steve. Removing Exit Animation effect worked like magic.

Thank you Steve! This has been driving me crazy - my object is set to go to the end. However, I did have an Exit Animation - and THAT was the culprit. Took that off an works great.

My gosh. I'm using the step-by-step function for the first time and didn't realize that the automatic text prompts have exit animations. You just saved me so much time. Thanks a mil!

Hi Stephanie,
Look at the end of the bars on the timeline. Do they have a little right arrow on the far right of the bar? If not, they're not set to display until the timeline ends and, as you are apparently experiencing, will disappear at the very last moment of the slide. To fix this, right click on the bar and select "Show until end". That should take care of it.

Thanks Steve, This has really helped me - a simple fix for the most frustrating issue :-)

I am having the same problem. The text box is disappearing at the end of the timeline. I have set all objects to show always and removed all animations

I had a look at your file and can't quite figure out what you're trying to do but a good way to stop stuff with exit animations disappearing preemptively is to use a trigger to pause the timeline after everything has finished coming in.

Hi Steve,
Even when I right click and do "show until end" it is still disappearing. Also, the other bars do not have the little arrow, and they stay on the slide.

Could it be because my project was originally imported from Power Point? It keeps happening as I make edits and add things from Storyline that weren't there when I imported. It's usually fixed if I delete the imported text box, say, and make a new in Storyline...

Hmmm, I don't think that is the cause of the problem. I import PowerPoint slides all the time and don't experience objects disappearing at the end of a slide erroneously. If your able to share a 1 or 2 slide .story file exhibiting the problem, I'd be happy to take a look.
Hi Stephanie! Looks like Steve is assisting you here.
Thanks Steve for jumping in to assist Stephanie
Hi Matthew,
This thread is much older, so I think we'd want to take a look at your .story file to see how it's behaving.

Thank you for answering. Fortunately for me I figured it out. The truth is that when I thought I was modifying the exit animation to turn them off, I had in fact turned off the starting animations. Once I figured that out, I was able to correct it.
The take home message is to be very methodical when you are testing solutions.
Hi Matthew,
Thank you for the update and I'm glad you were able to figure it out. Just an FYI replying via email here includes your signature, so you're welcome to edit that and remove the information if you'd prefer.

Thank you, I will remove that.
