"OpenMenu" does not work?
Hey there!
I am still fairly new to Storyline and I still have trouble along the way.
Currently I am using the "OpenMenu" variable to refer to a menu page that is located in my File Master. The correct file master is applied to all pages. The default state of "OpenMenu" is false and turns to "true" when the applied HotSpot is clicked.
I have compared this to older files, that have been build the same way and I cannot spot why mine isn't working. You can click on the designated hotspot as much as you want, but the menu just won't show?
Help, anyone? :'3
P.S. If this is the wrong place to ask for help like this, I apologise!

As I understand it, you have a hotspot that toggles a T/F variable. When the variable changes to True, you want a menu on the Slide Master to show, but that isn't happening.
Best guesses about what might be going wrong:
- The objects in the menu are covered by objects on the slides. (Permanent objects on the base of the Slide Master always appear under objects on a slide. Only Slide Master placeholders can be rearranged on a slide.)
- The trigger that shows the menu isn't running. That could be due to the variable not changing as expected. Or to the "when" in the trigger not happening. Or to something else...
Beyond that, it's impossible to troubleshoot without seeing all the programming. Someone might be able to solve the issue if you upload the .story file. Here are the best practices for doing that:- Only include slides that are related to the problem. (For example, if all the slides have the same menu programming and the same problem, the file you upload only needs to have one slide.)
- Be sure objects, layers, motion paths, and variables have meaningful names.
- If there is proprietary content, replace or delete it. For example, replace proprietary text with “ipsum lorem” text.
