Player Will Not Open

Hello all,

For some reason, the Player button no longer opens the Player when I click it.

Here is what I do:
Click Player button in Story View and from within a scene,
Button stays down for a sec or two, (see image 1)
Software "flashes," (see image 2)
Player never opens.
Cannot click in/operate the software without getting an error beep,
Have to press Esc to return back to being able to click in/operate the software.

I have tried these things to remedy:
Restarted my machine,
Upgraded my version to 3.85.31840.0,
Downgraded to two previous versions,
Tried opening Player with a new, blank project,
Tried it with an existing project,
huge project,
small project...

behavior is always the same.

Any ideas?

Thanks! :-)

  • Hi Karen,

I'm sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. As a troubleshooting step, try repairing your Storyline 360 installation to see if this fixes the issue. If the issue persists, Articulate 360 has a clear cache feature that I'd like to use. Follow these steps to clear your app data.

Let me know if that fixes the issue. I want to ensure you’re up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi, was there ever a fix found for this. I am experiencing a similar issue. When I click on the 'Player' an outline of the player window appears but there is nothing to click on. The outline will disappear but is obviously still there somewhere as you are unable to click within the software and just get the error beep. The only way to resolve this, is to 'ctrl / alt / delete and close the program.

      Kind Regards

      Richard.

        Hi RichardGibbs-f2,

I'm happy to help, and I have a few questions to help troubleshoot!

        • Are you up to date with the latest version of Storyline? We're currently on version 3.96.33815.0.
        • Does this happen with multiple files? What about a brand-new file?

I suggest trying a Storyline repair that typically resolves unexpected behavior such as this. If the issue persists, please let me know here or privately in a support case so we can investigate further!
