Positioning the label in Labeled Graphics
The Graphic Labeled Block is a nice feature but I rarely use it because there is no way to position the labels precisely and, most of the time, they end up hiding the part of image they're supposed to explain.
When the marker is on the right, part of the image is hidden.
Same thing when the marker is on the left.
It would be nice to have some control over the position and size of the labels.

Another +1, please. When the thing you want to explain is in the center of the graphic, you have to mess around with the placement so that the caption doesn't cover the thing you're trying to explain. I'm having to keep moving the marker further and further over, so much so that it doesn't even appear to be related to the thing it's explaining.
Being able to override auto placement of the caption -- with an option of above, below, left, and right -- would be great.

YES PLEASE FIX! Also, I would LOVE for there to be an option to make the label itself transparent or at least the circle markers so that it doesn't hide what is beneath it.
Thanks for sharing these suggestions for the Labeled Graphic block!
We're tracking requests for additional formatting options for the Labeled Graphic block, and we'll update this thread once we have any new information on this request.

Still not control over where media is placed within a marker. This was brought up 4 YEARS AGO! Why would you put media above the description especially when the media takes up the entire marker window? How would a learner know to scroll down? Obviously learning designers were not in charge of this. Horrible design and not expecting this to be a priority making this block useless.

I'd love to get feedback on this theme component for labeled graphics- the customizations include smaller markers, darkmode interface with the semi-transparent popovers flush to the right in a fixed area. Depending on screen size, the popovers barely interfere with the graphic.

Hi Phil, as always love your stuff. I've used Embed (iframe) for the same sort of thing in many cases (mostly svg image maps, e.g. click on a state to see legislation). This way the interaction works within the Rise editor/Review. I then have a script to copy the file into the zip after you publish it, so that it is part of the package. How do you edit your hotspots?

Hi Tim thanks, the css I used for the hotspot markers is below. 3 styles- the first makes the icon transparent, the second scales down the size of the marker, the third scales the active/clicked marker back up. I have a browser extension that applies the styles while working in Rise, but then I need to add the css to the exported package. Kind of a manual process but I like that tool you mentioned, I wish I knew how to code something like that.
.labeled-graphic-marker__pin i::before {
color:transparent
}
.labeled-graphic-marker__pin {
transform: scale(.3);
}.labeled-graphic-marker--active .labeled-graphic-marker__pin {
transform: scale(.7);
}

How is this still an issue after 3 years. Can we please have some updates. It's a feature we would like to make better use of but at the moment with the descriptions covering key components, it's pretty useless. Has such potential.

Would also like to decide where the label is positioned (left, right, top)

Hey team - are there any updates or planned improvements to the labelled graphic block on the back of this thread? The thread is fairly old, but the functionality to move the position and size of the labels that display when a hotspot is selected would make it more viable to use the block in more situations...
Hi Chloe!
Thanks for checking in on this!
I don't have any updates to share as our development team has been prioritizing other features. Not to worry! I've included your voice in the feature report and will notify you if it makes it to our Feature Roadmap.

Adding my voice to this! The labeled graphic feature is one of my favorite features in Rise. I think it adds so much value to the platform, but it is missing some key features like this one and the ability to align markers to each other.

Alright, I have a big company process schematic and I'd love to use the labelled graphic to explain key parts of it with a small video or audio. Its driving me mad that the positioning of most of the boxes fall over the parts of the schematics I want to explain ????????? Honestly this labelled graphic is just plain useless in its current state !!!!
To have it really become useful, it should have those options :
- Box placement : right side / left side / down / up of the marker
- No box (only audio)
- Side box (for instance to have a video character explaining)
- Global captions : when you put a video in the box, the captions are under the whole picture, no tiny glyphs inside th tiny video
- Audio captions (for accessibility audio should have captions)
I wanted to try out Articulate Rise to go faster in production than Storyline but I'm loosing so much time over those details I'm getting slowly discouraged to promote it as a useful tool in my team ...

One option is to add the same main image as a media element of the item itself and crop it down.
