Problem displaying videos in Storyline
Hello everyone,
Since the last update, I've had a problem with the display of videos in my Storyline. When a video is added, it appears with a uniform color (see photo), and this doesn't change even if I move forward in the timeline.
The problem is that I have to preview each time to check t
hat my elements (such as squares, rectangles, etc.) are correctly positioned, which is quite restrictive. I've compared it with other users who don't have this problem, so I'm guessing it's due to a specific setting I've made.
Do you have any idea which setting might be to blame?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm having this exact issue and it's been this way since I updated my storyline...it used to show a preview/still of the video on the slide and on the thumbnail on the left, which is great. but now I can't easily see what i have on the slide at a glance. I hope they fix this back to how it used to be...
Hi peachpeach!
Happy to assist!
Are you uploading your videos from a file on your machine, or embedding them from a website?
It's expected behavior for videos embedded from a website to not populate a preview on a Storyline Slide.
Authors must publish the course to view the playback, or first download the video, then upload it to Storyline from a local file.
When uploading a local MP4 file, I was able to preview the content in real time while editing my Slide.
However, if you're not seeing a preview for videos uploaded from your local hard drive, please share a copy of the affected .story file so we can take a closer look. Feel free to upload that here in the discussion, or privately through a support case.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

I am publishing mp4s that I created and exported from After Effects. I realized some of my MP4 files thumbnails were working if they were exported right from Synthesia. I decided to try exporting H.264 setting with Media Encoder and sure enough, now the preview is working! Not sure why it was working fine as they were exported to mp4 with just After Effects setting before the Storyline update... but this additional step (using Media Encoder) is a workaround, and probably how I should export from After Effects to begin with, to be honest đŸ™‚
