Publishing Storyline as MP4 file
Hi all, I created a module in Storyline with mobile-sized videos and call outs. When I published as MP4, however, the final video plays really glitchy. The video freezes and skips, which makes it unwatchable. I reduced the size when I saved and I even took out the call-outs I had animating in, but I still get the same freezing and skipping.
I searched the forum here and it looks like this was an issue three months ago. Just wondering if this has been addressed in a recent update.
Thanks!

I'm experiencing the exact same issue on a very large client project involving mobile-sized / vertical videos. The published MP4 has random freezes/stutters baked into the video. If I republish, the stutters are still there, but they appear in different places.
I've done enough testing to know that it was an early January Articulate update that caused this to break. I am using the 12/17/25 version of Storyline to keep the project going.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Hi ded2 and KeithKemsley,
Thanks for reaching out about this!
KeithKemsley, I see you've already connected with my teammates in a support case. We'll keep you updated on any changes. In the meantime, I recommend continuing to use version 3.107.35974.0 since it allows you to keep working on your project.
ded2 our team is currently tracking a bug where video output stutters or freezes when publishing a course for video. To help us determine whether you're running into the same issue, I have a few questions:
- Does the issue persists after importing your slides into a new Storyline file?
- Do videos from the Content Library play as expected?
- If you rollback to a previous version, does the issue persist?
If you're comfortable sharing your file, we'd be happy to test it and see whether we can reproduce the behavior. If you prefer, you can share it in a support case, and we'll delete it once troubleshooting is complete.

I'll try the videos from the content library to see if it makes a difference. The ones I used are from the client's source (storyblocks). At this point I don't want to roll back to a previous version since I had major audio skipping issues with Review and my LMS that weren't fixed until the latest release. So I'm kind of in a quandary. Let me try importing into a new Storyline file first and see if that works. Thanks!
Hi ded2,
Please let us know once you're done testing!
KeithKemsley, thank you for confirming these details!
I've added them to your case.

Hello Kelly,
Thank you for your attention to this and working with ded2 on the same issue. :)
I can tell you that for me and the other developer here, the following did NOT work:
1. Importing to a new Storyline
2. Using content library videos (that totaled 2min or more)
3. Rolling back to anything later than 12/17/25.
Thanks!
