Quiz - Allow users to edit their answers before final submit
We've set up a quiz in Storyline, once that allows users to review AND EDIT/CHANGE their answers before a final submission, without using the Feedback option , as we do not want to give any feedback on correct or incorrect, for each quiz question. Is there a way to make this happen, without needing to complete Feedback Layers?
When previewing, without feedback, in Storyline and even after a publish the user is able to go back to the questions, but is unable to change their answer.

Hi Indrani
on the quiz slides you have a submit button but no Next button so as soon as the user clicks submit they have answered the question. If you want them to be able to review the quiz you'll need to have a Next button so they can move between the slides before the interaction is submitted.
Here is the tutorial when using this approach with the player navigation - you'll need to add additional triggers to make it work with your custom navigation.

Thanks, Wendy.
This is exactly what I did later. I did get rid of the 'SuBMIT' button, and added 'next' and 'previous'. I will be happy to share my sourcefile. Thanks

Thanks, Wendy. However I was wondering if with a 'Submit' button, it will be possible to move back and forward? thanks
Hey there, Indrani. You can still use the Previous and Next buttons to navigate between quiz questions if you have a Submit button included, as well.

Thanks, Crystal. However I would like to use the 'next' and 'prev' buttons to go back and forth and change my responses WITH the 'SUBMIT' button being active. Can I make it happen? Thanks

Hi Indrani
you'd need to add a Prev / Next custom button on the slide with your Submit button.
You'd probably need an instruction at the beginning to the user they can navigate back and forward using the Prev/Next to change their answers but once they click Submit, the answer is recorded.

Thanks, Wendy. So once users click 'Submit' they really cannot go back and change.. So I do not understand the point of having the 'prev' and 'next' button. Thanks

Hi Indrani
if you were using the built in player navigation, you can set the slides to have the previous and next buttons so users can go back and forth checking their answers and then when they get to the end they can submit them altogether.
Because you are using custom navigation, if you wanted them to have the option of going back and forth without submitting you'd need to add those custom buttons.
Perhaps add a tooltip 'Are you sure?' when they click the submit button if you think they are going to want to change their answer.

Hi,
I have successfully set up my quiz with just 'prev' and 'next' buttons and a 'submit all' at the end... but unfortunately if they press ENTER this submits their response and they are unable to amend it when they review their answers. Is there a way to disable this? I'm using numeric questions.
Many thanks,
Hattie
Hi Hattie!
I'm sure we can help! Do you mind sharing a sample story file so we can see what you have so far?
You can attach your project to your reply by using the Add Attachment button.

Hi Lauren,
I've attached an abridged version (the real one is 40 questions). I've tried to set it up to discourage the learner from pressing enter and given them the option to reset before their final submission- not ideal as they then lose all their recorded answers.
A fix would be great!
Thanks,
Hattie
Hi Hattie!
It looks like we need to change the number of attempts!
Please take a look at this tutorial, where I've explained how to add an extra attempt so the learner can edit their answer when reviewing. I've also attached the updated file to the reply. Let me know if you have additional questions!

Hi Lauren
Unfortunately the link at "this tutorial" is no longer working. Is there another way I can view for these instructions.
Thanks
Michelle

Hi Lauren,
That is unbelievably helpful!!
Thank you so much,
Hattie
Hi Michelle,
I'd be happy to help you here. I've recorded another brief Peek 360 video walking through how you can adjust the attempts for your question slides in either Slide View or Form View.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
